Addicts. That’s what kids are nowadays. Plugged in. Scrolling, swiping and clicking. Playing outside? Fuck that. Talking IRL? That’s some scary shit. Since doing this campaign sadly, the emotional regulation for kids has gotten worse. Young boys falling in love with AI anime waifu’s while young girls are depressed they don’t look like hyper real Instagram filters. Yikes. Anyhow… this was another job with a minimal budget and required a lot of problem solving. It got my attention when I had the two kiwi’s approach me with the idea because it had those characteristics I love. Subversive, challenging and based on observational truth in the zeitgeist. It was tongue in cheek, but now, was darkly prophetic. Social media companies have since become the 21st Century’s cigarette companies.
