This didn’t happen, but it’s honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done. I just had to put it in the book. Nike approached CHEP to pitch for the Women’s World Cup. Sam Kerr was defined as the hero of the campaign. I was briefed to do a whole lot of what I call ‘wallpaper’. I did this instead. It was an attempt to do something more confident, earnest, and simple in a world of patronizing advertising talking to women’s empowerment. All of it repeating the same stuff. Boring disingenuous bullshit. I wanted to avoid that empty fluff and try to do something more honest. This was my attempt at something that could be a new ‘Air Jordan’ for Nike. I think it was a big missed opportunity and sparked the beginning of me realizing - it was time for a change.
